What Is TEFL, And What Can You Do With It?
TEFL stands for Teaching English as a Foreign Language. A TEFL certificate is the qualification that language schools ask for when they hire English teachers, in Spain and in most other countries.
Our course is the Trinity CertTESOL: 4 weeks in Barcelona, with teaching practice with real students. Along with the CELTA, it is one of the 2 certificates schools ask for by name, and it is regulated in the UK at level 5. You don’t need a degree or any teaching experience to take it.
Once you have it, you can teach in a language academy, in companies, one to one or online, in Spain or anywhere else. Our careers service helps you find your first classes in Barcelona. If you’re not from the EU, it is also the first step to a student visa: a year in Spain, working up to 30 hours a week.

I absolutely loved my course at TEFL Iberia! The course was extremely thorough. Even though they worked us hard, we had a lot of support and came out of it with amazing skills to teach English. All of the students in my group formed a tight bond and we made friends for life.Posted on Google
Got my Trinity CertTESOL through TEFL Iberia and the whole experience has been amazing. It was an intense course, and the workload was another level. But the tutors and the staff were always there to help you out. The school was very comfortable and the classes fully equipped.Posted on Google
From day one, it is full speed ahead! But don't let that put you off, because the tutors, staff, and everyone there are ready to support you along the way. They run this course every month, so they know exactly how you feel. The four weeks go by so quickly.Posted on Google

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I Need A Visa?
EU and EEA citizens don’t. For the 4-week course most people come as visitors, which allows up to 90 days (South Africans need a Schengen visa). To stay longer than 90 days you need a student visa, and that’s what the year-long programme is designed for.
How Much Does It Cost?
€1,750 if you pay in full 4 weeks before the course starts, otherwise €1,850. A €500 deposit secures your place, and there’s a payment plan.
Do I Need To Speak Spanish?
No. The course is taught in English, and most academy lessons in Barcelona are too. Spanish makes daily life easier, which is why the year-long programme includes classes.
Do I Need To Be A Native Speaker?
No. About 1 in 7 of our trainees aren’t. You need a C1 level of English, and we check it with a short test when you apply.
How Long Will It Take To Find A Job?
Most graduates find work within about two weeks in September and January, the main hiring months. We can’t promise you a job, but schools come to us for teachers and we help with every step.
How Hard Is The Course?
It’s intense: four weeks full time, Monday to Friday, with lesson planning in the evenings. It’s challenging but we offer lots of support along the way.
