TEFL & Work Placement Itinerary

Pre-arrival
You’ll work closely with our coordinator to organise your visa and paperwork, as well as discuss the job opportunities available in Barcelona.

Arrival in Barcelona
If you book our airport pickup and accommodation service, you’ll enjoy a smooth arrival with a private transfer from the airport straight to your accommodation in Barcelona.

Weeks 1-4
Complete four weeks of intensive teacher training to earn your Trinity CertTESOL qualification and gain real classroom teaching experience. Timetable: 09:30 – 18:00, Monday to Friday.

Week 5
Congratulations! You’re now a qualified English teacher. During this week, you’ll prepare for job interviews and get personalised guidance from our coordinator to help you secure a teaching position in Barcelona.

Week 6 onwards
Start your new job and begin your teaching career in Barcelona! Once you’ve successfully completed your CertTESOL and interviews, you’ll be placed directly with one of our trusted partner schools and can start teaching right away.

We offer all students the opportunity to come to Barcelona 1 week before their CertTESOL course starts. It includes 10 hours of survival Spanish lessons, 3 fun cultural activities and an in-depth location orientation. You’ll get the chance to settle in, enjoy Barcelona and adapt before focussing on your course.

It means that once you successfully complete your Trinity CertTESOL course in Barcelona, we’ll connect you directly with one of our trusted partner schools for a paid teaching position. You’ll need to meet the standard application and visa requirements and complete a final interview with the school. If the first interview isn’t successful, we’ll arrange additional interviews until you secure a placement.
Do you offer guaranteed job placement in Barcelona?
Yes, but these are limited to 10 spots each on the August and December intakes (in order to start working immediately in September and January. We partner with several reputable schools in Barcelona who have guaranteed spots for our graduates.
Please note:
The guaranteed teaching positions in Barcelona are reserved for our top applicants. Due to high demand and the limited number of spots, candidates must go through an additional pre-course selection process, which includes a screening interview and suitability assessment.
Only those who demonstrate strong potential, professionalism, and a commitment to teaching are offered these exclusive opportunities.

How many hours am I expected to work?
The minimum number of hours would be 12 teaching hours per week, but teachers commonly work 16-20 hours per week. It is very easy to supplement your hours and income with private classes, or even work for two different schools.
How much can I expect to earn?
English teachers in Barcelona typically earn 12-16€ net per hour. The schools we work with always pay a minimum of 12€/hour, but typically more.
When do placements start?
Placements start in September and January, which is why we tie the guaranteed jobs to the August and December CertTESOL courses. You are welcome to do the course at another time, on the understanding that the placement doesn’t start until September or January.
Do you help with visas and paperwork?
Yes, we provide comprehensive guidance and support throughout the visa and work permit application process, although obtaining the visa remains your responsibility.
What happens if I don’t get placed?
If we are unable to secure a placement within one month after successfully completing your CertTESOL qualification, you'll receive a full refund of the placement fee, subject to conditions detailed in the agreement.
Is accommodation included in this package?
No, but you are welcome to use our accommodation service for your time in Barcelona. We can offer you 5 weeks, 12 weeks or 12 months of accommodation. See our accommodation page for more information.
